Athens Banner-Herald Baseball Player of the Year Reader Poll: How Voting Works & How to Win

What is the Athens Banner-Herald baseball poll?

The Athens Banner-Herald Baseball Player of the Year Reader Poll is a preseason public vote run by the Athens Banner-Herald, which is named as the organizer of this ballot. The ballot is carried by Crowdsignal from poll.fm/16646565. Readers choose from a list of nominees, so this is a reader poll and not an editorial award decided by a panel.

The program sits in Athens, Georgia, and its nominee list names Apalachee and Athens Academy as two of the schools that field players. Those two schools are the ones the poll names in its own text, so the wider league falls outside this guide, as does any school that appears only in the live poll.

Quick facts

When does the Athens baseball ballot open and close?

Three editions are logged: 2023, 2025 and 2026. The 2026 ballot is dated to February by the timing fields behind this page, and the 2025 ballot shows a closed status on its live page. The 2023 edition comes from an older note, so its year is known but its window is not.

Opening and closing days are missing for every edition, and no weekday or week number is attached to either date. Closing days for the 2026 ballot are not printed here, so confirm on the live ballot each cycle.

What the timeline leaves out

No second round, runoff or finals stage is named for this poll. Any later stage would have to be checked on the live page, since no platform round dates are given anywhere in this material.

How do you vote in the Athens baseball player of the year poll?

Starting from poll.fm/16646565, the voter reads the nominee list and submits one choice. The mechanic is a public reader vote, and no account, login or sign-up step is named for this ballot.

The listing gives no vote cap, no per-voter daily limit and no eligibility text. Anyone who wants a second vote should consult the live ballot first, because any such term would be printed there.

Reading the nominee list

Each nominee is shown with a school, which helps a reader match a name to a team. For general tactics beyond this ballot, see the guide on getting more votes online, which covers general steps and does not describe this ballot.

How does this ballot compare with other Georgia polls?

The Athens poll sits alongside several Georgia programs that share this site's directory. Most of those siblings run as weekly series, such as the Georgia Baseball Player of the Week and the Georgia Boys Basketball Player of the Week. The Athens ballot is a preseason reader poll, so its timing and its nominee list differ from a weekly series.

Readers who follow several of these programs will notice that each has its own poll address and its own nominee list, so a vote in one does not carry over to another.

What sets the Athens ballot apart is its regional newspaper organizer. The Athens Banner-Herald is the named publisher, and the nominee list draws on Athens-area schools such as Apalachee and Athens Academy.

How can supporters strengthen a nominee in this poll?

A supporter's most useful step is to pass the ballot address to fans who follow Athens-area baseball, then vote once. The listing describes no organizer policy on outside help, so readers should not assume one exists.

Readers who look for paid help should know that the poll's own rules decide what is allowed. No vote packages are sold here, and nothing on the ballot says what the Athens Banner-Herald allows about purchased or automated votes. Readers can compare general options on the buy votes online page, and should read the ballot rules before using any of them.

Supporters who want to keep their effort clean can focus on the three facts the listing does give: the poll.fm address, the Athens Banner-Herald as organizer, and the February 2026 window. Sharing the ballot with local fans and families is the simplest way to widen the reader base. Each share sends the same poll.fm address, so every reader works from one nominee list.
